Drawing and a comic link

School started, the stock market went in the shitter, I played music with my friend Tom and I’ve spent as much time reading, watching and listening to the news as I can in the last two weeeks
First, I found this awesome picture on wikipedia while I was doing some research.
A 500 lb bomb fell through that dome and exploded inside the building. I was researching geodesic domes when I found the picture in the article about monolithic domes.
I’ve been reading this ars technica forum thread about the ongoing “mortgage armageddon” and I’ve found it to be a really interesting read. I particularly enjoyed the following photo. It really tickled my black-humor funny bone.
And then in this thread about the 2008 us presidential election, someone posted this video which made me cry.
Here is the page on youtube where this video lives.
Luckily, I also found http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/ through that thread and I think it is very interesting indeed.
Moving on, there was also posted a link to http://www.moral-politics.com/ which is an interesting idea. It purports to be able to place your moral/political orientation within a matrix of the larger population.
There is my result. Turns out I’m a dirty social democrat. Suddenly I understand why I cant; even talk about politics with my family who are all *very* conservative.
Interestingly, here is the chart showing all of the respondents who live in the US.
And, for comparison, here is the chart for all world respondents.
So yeah. Here’s how the stock market went today.
Good times.
Here’s the chart for the last year.

Haha. This is a funny little test. I kind of expected to be Miss Piggy. Though the first time I did it, I got Animal. I think that is who I want to be, not who I am. Fozzie bear sounds more like me. Which muppet are you?
You Are Fozzie Bear |

So Angela’s a *huge* Harry Potter fan and she is involved in all sorts of Harry Potter themed knitting and crafting groups on line. One of them, does an internet scavenger hunt every once in a while and we hosted the snitch for the last one. It’s on this page. I spent a good 30 minutes making that page and finding cool videos about cake decorating. It was kinda fun.
I’m getting burned out on mmo’s I think. I haven’t played EQ2 since this past weekend. It just hasn’t interested me. When I think about playing, it feels like thinking about going to a second job that I pay for the privelege of working.
I started replaying Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines last night. I made a Brujah. I’m having a blast so far. My character is a melee machine. She just tears through enemies. In the past I played a Malkavian and I focused on ranged weapons and seduction. My brujah is focused on melee, sneaking and breaking-and-entering. The game is really engrossing. I meant to play for just an hour or so last night and ended up playing for over two hours before I even realized it.
Yesterday I discovered how awesome the myspace music pages are. I spent about an hour and a half browsing and listening to peoples music yesterday and I spent about an hour this mornign doing that. There is an amazing variety of music on there.
And here are a few funny cats to brighten your day.

Yep it’s tuesday. Not a lot happening. I did a bunch of laundry today. And I washed the dishes.
Nisa is returning to her normal self as she starts to feel better. In fact I think she has been feeling crappy for a while because she seems like a different dog in a lot of ways. She’s making different facial expressions and her ears are pointing out at the top rather than straight up. She’s also only peeing like three or four times a day which is TOTALLY awesome. I was getting tired of running up and down the stairs 15 times a day.
Jeez, I probably need to start some kind of exercise now that I’m off the Nisa’s bladder plan.
I don’t have my grades yet but I’m sure that I did very well.
I’ve been playing eq2 lately and I really enjoy it for the most part but it seems like there are fewer people playing it now than I’ve ever seen. Most nights on my server there are only 10-20 people playing that are in the 20-30 level range. I haven’t been able to get a group together for anything at all since I came back two weeks ago. It’s pretty depressing.
I am also getting original EQ for free until august and I started playing that last night. It was amazing how many people were running around in tha game in the lowbie areas let alone how many were talking in chat. I saw more players in 30 minutes in EQ than I’ve seen in the last week in EQ2. That’s just sad.
I’m downloading the 14 day free trial of Dark Age of Camelot because I suspect that I’m just burned out on Norrath. Basically I just need a change of environment. I can’t afford to buy the game if I do like it though. Ah being poor blows.
I was going to say something about Blooms Day but I don’t really have anything. I’ve started to read Ulysses three or four times and I’ve never made it more than about half way through. I really like Joyce’s earlier writing, in Dubliners especially, but Ulysses and Finnegans Wake pretty much just leave me cold.
I much prefer Celine to Joyce. He writes about retards and whores. My kind of guy. Except for the whole Nazi collaboration thing.

Our dog Nisa has been sort of sickly for the past while. She’s had bouts of vomiting and has been drinking extreme amounts of water and has had problems with having accidents in the house. Over the weekend she seemed to be getting a lot worse. I was taking her out to pee every 45 minutes and she was drinking truly huge amounts of water. On Sunday night we noticed her shaking. On Monday morning she was shaking even worse.
So I called the vet and made an appointment for her. After x-rays, blood work and a urine culture the vet came to the conclusion that the blood test might indicate Addison’s Disease and so we gave him the go-ahead to do a test on her that would confirm his suspicions. So yesterday we got confirmation that she does have Addison’s and I took her for her first shot. For the rest of her life she needs one of these shots every 25 days.
She seems to be feeling better now but she’s mostly sleeping. She was wagging her tail this morning though. And she had enough energy to chase the birds too.
On a lighter note, June 10 was my half birthday and Angela made me an awesome card.
My piano final is tomorrow. Then I’m done with school until the fall. I’m going to miss my classes though.
No lolcats today. Instead here are some pictures of Nisa that I took a few days ago.
And this is whats she’s spent most of the day doing today.

Next week is finals week and I’m busy practicing the piano so my post isn’t going to be very long.
I’m struggling to set up my linux box for audio recording and midi work. After trying a bunch of specialized distros that just didn’t work that great I’ve gone back to mandriva because there is a community repository of packages for audio work. I’ll report back here on how that turns out in a few days.
So here’s some more lolcats to make you laugh this friday afternoon.
And my favorite for the day:

I found audibles.com a while ago and have been meaning to write about it. I was hoping for Edgar Allen Poe by Vincent Price, but I didn’t see any. I am really excited to pick something out though because you can listen to a sample of I think everything before you get it. Which is really important in case the reader is a heavy breather or something else that is like nails on a chalk board.
I also just found this ring from the Naughty Secretary’s Club and I need it. Adorable. I also saw the horsey-poo ring, and I couldn’t see the picture, so I thought it was a ring with what looked like horse poo, but lo, it is not. I also saw these cute hair clips and since I can’t afford to go to the salon, my hair will be growing. Probably until October when I have to finish paying off for the Fall Fiber Arts Retreat. So I will be needing things to hold my hair out of my face. I am this close to cutting my bangs myself though. I really like my bangs. I think they look awesome with pigtails and whatnot.
I am working from home today and tomorrow because I am still recuperating from getting my wisdom teeth out and it is just too noisy at work. Plus I can work from my couch and not holding my head up on my own seems to lessen the pain. Love the laptop. Though for some reason my power cord doesn’t work any more so I have to use Abe’s. I guess it is a good thing we have the same laptop.
Oh, and Abe has been really nice while I have been getting my wisdom teeth out. Buying schtuff and bringing me water and letting me lay on the couch instead of falling all over the apartment. My wisdom teeth must have weighed a lot because I had no sense of balance for a few days there. Haha. We watched most of season 2 of SG1. All of Season 1 and 2.0 of (the new) Battelstar Galactica. Which I really like and Abe is starting to really like. I never saw the old one. I also watched a disc of Boston Legal, season 2, which is awesome because it has James Spader and William Shatner. It doesn’t even need to be good for me to like it because they are so awesome, but fortunately it is great. I also watched a double sided disc of ER, season 1. And slept a lot. I knit a hat Thursday after getting my teeth out for the Dueling Club at HSKS5, but I lost. I got my duel partner’s hat on Saturday. Quick Mail. I also knit a thing for my spoilee at HSKS5. I tatted something for her. And I have done nothing for the required items yet. Well, I bought supplies. The rest is easy. I can’t find the email that said what she wanted, though. blerg. I also finished knitting a shrug that unfortunately doesn’t fit. And a hair thing out of silk from one of the one skein patterns from the LYS Tour - Destination Yarn! I accomplished alot for not being able to even sit up for longer than a couple hours.
And the fluid story for my mom, I ate a bunch of ice cream on Thursday and have of it dripped from my bottom lip to my sweater shirt. It was loverly. I also drooled a lot and it took me a few days to figure out how to squirt my mouth with the syringe thing without it dripping all over my hands and arms. But I stopped using gauze by dinnertime on Thursday. And as of a few days ago I don’t think I can eat another liquid meal ever. I am so sick of soup. And juice. Not ice cream though. Never ice cream.
So the weather has just been all over the place for the last week or so. One day its 83 degrees and the next its 50 and raining. At night its been really cold and both Angela and I have been having crazy dreams. Last night I had one where we were driving around in our car and something hit our windshield and shattered it. I started to get upset because we couldn’t afford to replace it but Angela said “Don’t worry I’ve got some lace weight yarn with me, I’ll just knit us a new one.” And a few minutes later we were driving away again with a windshield that looked like a giant white doily!
Angela’s foot is healing up really well. We’ve been washing it, putting antibiotic ointment and a fresh bandage on it twice a day since it happened. It was pretty funny. I was sitting on the ground playing with the dogs and Angela stepped over the little table at the end of the couch and right on to the dog brush. She started laughing hysterically and hopping around and I looked up just in time to see the dog brush go flying off her foot which she was madly shaking. then she collapsed on the ground and said “It hurts!” between spurts of laughter. She was laughing the whole time I was on the phone with the doctor. All in all it was a pretty surreal event.
The yarn trek was fun in its own way too. Saturday was my favorite day. We took the dogs with us and went to Bellingham to have lunch with Rijil and Isaac and then we drove to like 14 yarn stores between Bellingham and Seattle. It was cool to see the variety in the stores. And I really enjoyed chatting with Angela for such a long stretch of time. It reminded me of when we used to play EQ2 together. It was like a big long quest
Man I’m a dork.
Also, some amusement from http://icanhascheezburger.com/
Just wanted to share this video of an absolutely adorable corgi I found on you tube.
Also, I installed OpenSolaris 2008.05 on my laptop today. It’s very nice so far.
